Spook Teaching

Bringing Literacy to Life

Spook Teaching Logo

Spook Teaching has its origins in 'Spook country' - the North West of England. Keen dramatist and primary school teacher Stephen Delaney, son of author Joseph Delaney, created the first 'Spook' workshop in 2011. With the Pendle Hills on his doorstep he then began visiting local schools as Spook Johnson and was eagerly received by the local Key Stage 2 audiences.

In 2013, after honing his skills across the region, Stephen teamed up with lifelong friend Phil Blackburn to form Spook Teaching - a business with ambitions to engage a nationwide team of performers. Each would have specialist educational and drama skills that would enable Spook Teaching to 'bring literacy to life' for children across the country. We are now moving further along this road, spreading from school to school, county by county – lookout for your local spook, witch and our other characters anytime soon!
